Ive just arrived back in Sydney after 3 years of lock downs and not being able to travel due to covid…..
It’s interesting to listen to everyone’s stories about covid and what they went through. Everyone’s experience was vastly different. Some people really struggled and others seemed to have thrived. I friends that have gained weight and appear to be using covid as their excuse and others that took the time to eat healthy, learn more about meal prep and increased their daily exercise. I was chatting to a friend the other day and she said she was the healthiest and in the best shape she has been in for years. BTW she is 48.
She made use of her down time to meet with a friend everyday and walk. She got back into cooking more and finding joy in the kitchen. It was inspiring to hear.
But I have other friends that blamed their weight gain on covid. I understand it was different for everyone but some times its just about perspective. Is the glass half full or half empty.
This brings me to the headline. Everyone wants to lose a few pounds and they jump on the band wagon of the latest celebrity diet or what their friends are doing, (usually their friends have no idea, btw) they lose a few pounds or not, and end up right back where they started.
As you know my preferred long term eating plan is the mediterranean diet, you can read more about it here.
However, if some asked me how to lose 5 lbs, here’s what I’d tell them.
Use a restricted eating window for a few weeks. Only eat between the hours of 12 midday and 8pm. You can eat mostly what you want without going crazy. Im not saying eat 5 big macs, a pizza and 2 gallons of coke a day. This may just have you running to the restroom all day. 🤪
Drink plenty of water and walk 3 times per day for 10 mins. Doing some form or more intense workout is a bonus, and should be included into your long term lifestyle plan. I can’t give you a guarantee but I have seen this work so many times that Im pretty sure you will see some good results.
Happy restricted window feeding. 😀
