Well the short answer to that question is “It Depends”
First up let’s clear up one myth. As a general rule, any form of movement V’s nothing at all is always preferable. Even if you just walk around the block and go back inside and watch 10 hours of Netflix.
Last point to consider before I present both options.
My view to Physical Well Being is a very simple Philosophy.
LIGHTER STRONGER FASTER. In a nutshell:
· LIGHTER = Body Weight In Line with Height
· STRONGER = Strong Bones, Muscles, Tendons and Ligaments
· FASTER = Sharper Reaction, Enhanced Agility
So if we concede something is better than nothing then what does 30 mins V’s 60mins look like.
With the current state of physical well-being in the general population today, I would challenge most people’s ability to exercise effectively for 60 straight mins. That’s point 1 and here are the rest
· Our lifestyle now has us struggling to find 1 hour to get it done.
· We tend NOT to push VERY hard if we have to maintain an hour
· Psychologically 30 mins is much easier to process than 60 mins
· 30 mins won’t flatten you so you’re more likely to turn up next time.
· Quality exercise over quantity is easier on the body and produces results faster.
There are other points I could make however, that captures some of the main ones.
Bottom line…..Push for 30 mins and go home, and do that regularly and don’t just run on a treadmill for an hour and think you’re nailing it…
Happy Training
